The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
* This book is proving to be one of my top reads at the moment. I love the author's voice and his ability to create psychological tension between characters. The back of the book also contains information about his thought process on the writing of this novel. A great and intruiging read.
The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
* This book is one of my deep dives into the world of high fantasy. It is descriptive and quite full of lore. Overall an enjoyable read that one has to be fully immersed into a quiet room in order to fully grasp everything the book has to offer.
Doctor Sleep by Steven King
* A great book with deep psychological horror. I am only a quarter of the way through it at the moment but enjoying every bit of it. A book with lots of dark themes. Worth a read if one wants to know what happened to Danny years after The Shining took place.
Walk the Wild With Me by Rachel Atwood
* An interesting and flowery retelling of Robin Hood. I have enjoyed what I have been reading of this book. At times it is difficult to follow, as scenes bend and change around the reader at a fast paced speed. The author incorperates the fairy world into the world of Friar Tuck and Little John. Be prepared for trees to come alive and nymphs to gallavant with woodsmen. Enjoyable, but understandibly appeals to a certain audience.
Tender is the Flesh by Augustina Bazterrica
* A translated horror novel that takes a dive into distopian society where cannabalism is now mainstream. A book better taken in small doses for the faint of heart. There is a distinct disjointedness that the author has created between the main character and how he deals with the views of society. Very jarring and well written.
